Hosted Services
maximiser offers SpliceCom Community Visionary Partners the opportunity to deliver hosted telephony in a variety of ways. Modern hosted IP telephony is achieved through the provision of high capacity centralised Telephony Services, typically residing within a Hosting Centre(s), delivering voice services to IP phones over public IP networks. These IP phones are typically non-proprietary SIP handsets. This type of service is widely available, however, they lack many of the advanced business telephony features and functionality available from on-site IP-PBX deployments. Due consideration is also needed when routing telephone calls over open IP networks, from both a security and quality perspective.
In addition to delivering Hosted Telephony over Public IP Networks, SpliceCom can uniquely offer Hosted Telephony over Private IP Networks. This provides enhanced security and supports SpliceCom’s PCS IP Phones, allowing full business telephony features to be delivered as a Hosted offer for the first time.
Hosted Telephony is typically delivered as a Managed Solution. Tariffed on a monthly, per-user basis, to include engineering support for break/ fix, pricing is based upon the level of functionality and service offered by the SpliceCom Community Visionary Partner.
Hosted Managed Solution Deployment
For Hosted Telephony requirements SpliceCom’s maximiser XS Call Server can be expanded by running multiple instances of S8000-M software. This allows multiple virtual Call Servers to be provisioned on a single, high-availability hardware platform. Each virtual Call Server runs totally independently from the other Call Servers, being capable of running different levels of software and being upgraded without impacting the operation of other virtual Call Servers.
SpliceCom’s flexible licencing policy also provides major benefits in the Hosted Managed Solution environment. In particular a pool of licences allocated to a specific XS Call Server can be ustilised by any virtual Call Server running on it. From a hosting perspective, this allows spare licence capacity to be moved between different virtual Call Servers – and therefore between different customers – as the needs of individual organizations increase or decrease over time.
Hosted Telephony over Public IP Networks
As a conventional Hosted Telephony platform, SpliceCom’s XS Call Server can be used in conjunction with low-cost 3rd party SIP handsets over public IP Networks. Utilising DSL services between the customer premise and the hosting centre, security is provided through firewalls, whilst operation in conjunction with Network Address Translation (NAT) is achieved through Simple Traversal of UDP over NAT (STUN). Break out to the PSTN is achieved through backhauled SIP services “behind” the XS Call Server.
As well as providing simple “dial tone” telephony services, including voicemail and auto attendant, etc. to single sites, deployment in this manner allows a single DSL pipe to a site to carry both PSTN and inter-site calls in a multi-site company environment. This greatly reduces the number of trunks required – and the capacity of those trunks – when compared with building a multi-site network in the traditional manner. With each customer being allocated their own virtual Call Server, calls can be split across sites. Departments and/or Hunt Groups become centralised, with distributed Users and Homeworkers being able to participate irrespective of their location.
The deployment of the Vision Mobility Portal at the hosting centre allows value added business features to be accessed by users via a standard web-page. This includes;
Access to the centralised Unified System Directory

Departments
External contacts
Presence/Busy Lamp Field/Favourites

Hosted Business Telephony over Private IP Networks
SpliceCom’s Spectrum architecture allows all of maximiser’s unique business benefits to be realised in a Hosted Telephony environment when deployed over a private IP infrastructure.
Deployment of SpliceCom’s PCS range of IP handsets in conjunction with virtual Call Servers at the hosting centre allows full business communications to be delivered for the first time in a hosted environment, with all these facilities being available directly from the phone;
Access to the centralised Unified System Directory
Users
Departments
External contacts
Presence /Busy Lamp Field/ Favourites
Dial Ahead
Extension Anywhere mobility
Desktop/mobile phone Twinning
Hot Desking
Comprehensive Hot Desking, both locally and across multiple-sites, becomes a reality for the first time in a Hosted environment. A user can travel from one end of the country to the other, login to a PCS IP Phone and it immediately takes on all their personal identity - including their personal Presence/Busy Lamp Field/Favourites settings. Personal and Departmental calls, alongside voicemail access, are all delivered exactly as if they were sitting at their normal desk.
High Availability Hosted Business Telephony over Private IP Networks
Full business survivability is a factor that’s all too often overlooked in traditional Hosted Telephony deployment, where the reliability of a single IP connection to the “Cloud” can be considered a weakness in hosted infrastructures. Spectrum allows for local on-site gateways to be deployed, providing local PSTN break out over ISDN or SIP and local survivability with full-feature call processing in the event of an IP trunk outage to the hosting centre.
SpliceCom’s infrastructure also allows for the provision of on-site gateways to support a wide-range of traditional telephony tasks, including;
Analogue Extensions
Paging/Tannoy
Fax Machines
Door Entry
Trigger Input/Alarms
